2000 model year German mid sized luxury sedans editions.
1. BMW 5-Series
2. 2000 Audi A6
3. 2000 Mercedes C Class
I’d say that the A6 aged the best, it also lived longer than the other two and didn’t look out of place.
I have experience with all three. The BMW interior quality was lacking, it feels dated, the Mercedes has very heavy doors and I own a 2000 A6.
SO, Tell me. I can’t get polls to work.

Audi`s design is quite timeless, is hard to find one which hasn`t aged well

But really though

This is a facelifted W210 E Klasse. Just FYI...

I’d agree. BMW’s radical shift in design language after about 2001 makes all if its earlier cars, while still tasteful, appear quite dated.
Audi follows the same school of thought BMW did before Chris Bangle, in that their styling gradually evolves from generation to generation as a continuum, without any radical or jarring changes. They also avoid visual gimmicks and keep things clean and restrained, all of which helps quite a bit.

I don’t know the difference lol.

Just like all the people who are now buying 4 cylinder A4s and thinking it’s the same as C6 A6 4.2
Well, I mean the repair bills are similar...

I fully admit the M5 looks better, but still.

Look a Bloby McBlanderson design

I think in certain colors with certain wheels the E39 had aged the best. The silver with the basket weaves look horrendously dated though. I dunno, maybe call it a tie between it and the Audi. The Merc has definitely aged the worst though.

Not bad for over 10 years old.

I vote the 5 - partly because i own one and think it still looks great 17 years (and fewer) old.
I hated the way the Merc looks - I lived in Germany and saw them everywhere and thought they were hideous.

Audi. All the way. My dad has a ‘01 and every time I see it, I think it has aged better and better.

I love E39s, but I agree the A6 still looks the most modern, despite the droopy ass. At least, it looks more closely related to Audi’s current offerings than the other two do to those of BMW and Mercedes. The E-class is a great car, but definitely the most aged in styling. Not that that’s a problem.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 21:06 |

The 5 series. The Audi looks a bit bulbous, and the E-Class is like the Jaguar S-Type, it looked bad when it came out and got worse looking over time.

Make it a sport version with factory 5 spoke wheels and that would be my exact car.

Aesthetically? E39
Mechanically? 210

You’re telling me. We got one in for trade in last month and my used car manager quickly came and told me that he only has $3500 into it if I wanted it. It was a silver 2005 with 95k on it. All i could do was cry because I just put down 2k on furniture and could of totally have been rocking a clean LS right now :’(

The E39 is one of the few 2000’s cars that could be sold as a new car and a) no one would notice and b) it would actually be an improvement.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 21:28 |

Oh God. It’s always worse when you just had the money a minute ago.

Ur mom looks like a Bloby McBlanderson design.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 21:56 |

While I agree the a6 is a fairly timeless design, you picked a nice a6 and the most base model benz and bmw picture. I’d say
Facelift e39
A6
W210 on monoblocks
Pre facelift e39
W210
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:01 |

How do you like it?
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:03 |
|
I had an A6 like that for about two months (but then sold it, biggest regret of my life). I would get so many looks. In dark blue with the S6 wheels, that thing really turned heads. Plus the 3.0 sounded smooth and creamy. I’ve always been a fan of the Mercedes googley-eyes, but the Audi blows it out of the water in terms of aging with grace
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:04 |

I love mine, even stock it gets tons of compliments and second glances. Don’t see many dark green luxury cars out there nowadays now.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:05 |
|
That A6 is close to base though.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:06 |

omg that's so cool honestly. I have my doubts about the Volkswagen group, but every time I drove that thing and my Golf, my doubts go away and I forget all about my F30 3-Series. Man, I gotta get another C5 A6.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:08 |
|
Close, but not quite. I mean think about how much a set of wheels, a mild lowering kit, or an amg/m tech/s line body kit can make a difference on the right car even as a stand-alone modification.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:13 |
|
Do it!
But in 2.7t or 4.2 V8 flavor!
One thing that always confuses people is the fact that my A6 is manual. Kinda cool to have something unique.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:27 |

e39. Throw some nice wheels on it, maybe drop it half an inch, and in my opinion, it may just be the best looking sedan ever made.

Mercedes Benz E-class.

Audis boring of today is the timeless of tomorrow.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:33 |

Need.
The C5 generation is timeless, if I don’t say so myself.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:40 |
|
Every generation is.
I can’t think of an Audi that looks outdated, or that didn’t age well.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 22:42 |
|
Agreed, there was the Audi Fox. But that just came out at a bad time I presume.
Otherwise, everything looks at least five years or more ahead of its time. My A6 is most commonly mistaken for a 2008 model...

Jesus, that must me satisfying.
![]() 10/02/2015 at 23:24 |

All 3 have aged well. But only if they’re in decent shape. A majority of these near me are always sorta beat up.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 00:10 |

The Audi is like water, so bland there’s nothing on it to age.
The E class is like milk, great at first but appears dated quickly.
The 5 Series is like a Coke, not too crazy, definitely aged but still drinkable

Indeed. I just swallowed my sadness all day

The Audi, and I am not an Audi guy. Not the greatest pic/example of a Mercedes with the clouded headlights.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 03:36 |
|
It’s great. Only complaint is that it isn’t an E55. Stupid comfortable and all I’ve had to do was a set of bushings and ball joints even though it’s got almost 190k and has been poorly maintained before I bought it.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 09:30 |
|
The Audi is quite the opposite of bland to drive. Twin turbo V6, all wheel drive, six speed manual. You don’t get that with a BMW.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 09:31 |
|
They all have slightly clouded headlights, haha.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 12:50 |

The E39 by far looks the best, but the Audi probably looks the newest, simply because every Audi looks the same since 20 years ago.
Also, the E39 has been on the market for 2 years before the A6 came out. The A6 actually is the car with the shortest production span of the three.
Also I don’t see where its interior quality is lacking, it still holds up very well nowadays, it seems to me that the E60 interior actually feels cheaper than that of the e39.
![]() 10/03/2015 at 23:50 |

I was under the impression that this was about looks and styling. In terms of driveabilty, I agree completely that the Audi is not bland

I just felt like adding that, haha.
